The DataBarons
They were called that because, through thick and thin they built impressive fortunes by giving information away. There were nine [at least] such men and women who owned a minimal subscription from many millions to their all seeing databases of multimedia beauty. Each baron had their own domain of information entertainment. Extensive and complete, the ever growing banks of knowledge on the universe made education like melting into focus.
The Adventure
How does such a world, founded on high ideals instead of greed, deal with a potentially terminal crisis and evolve on towards a singularity? The characters, the Barons created their own to different styles of living geared to deal with the rough stuff of past times. Indeed some of them are rough stuff from the past.
Throughout the first chapters, prevenient memory is learned spontaneously by a number of the barons and passed to the rest. The resultant ability to meld time is, in effect making single the their relationship with both the present and the future. Bending time has a strange effect on anyone who practiced it.
It started with the white point
The White point had already come, within the memory of the older databarons, in the eye of a crisis. It had been the tipping point from one form of intelligence to another. The Crisis was the financial turnaround from 'private government' money to personal wealth. It was more a series of interacting crises - a jangling cacophony of dramas, ruinations and surprises. There was no money any more - The need to recycle money at street level to generate energy for the controllers had gradually became redundant and with it taxation. Yet the private ruling elite assumed the outcome to be anarchic violence so took all the money away. All of it.
Rulers of the Underworld
The elite migration from all countries to their hideouts miles under the earth took the rulers of the corporates, the press, the banks, royalty. mandarins, juntas and think tanks to safety in their depths. There they planned their pogroms in an ever widening time gap from their intended feast above.
As the Databarons learned about infinity, then so did everybody else as natural omnipotent intelligence which affects all including the animals.
